In our recent trip to Kitali, we taught classes in Misikhu and Naitiri with 12 and 19 students respectively. While there we were invited to accompany Elder and Sister Beecher to Mt. Elgon to try and photograph the elusive Colobus monkey. They are an unusual monkey with long white hair on the back and a long tail that ends with a white plume of hair. The Colobus is a master of jumping from one tree branch to another, sometimes 20 or 30 feet (or at least it looks that far).
We saw beautiful trees, birds, and a cave frequented by local elephants (didn't see any of those). Another cave had lots of fossilized bones embedded in the walls and ceiling. An ancient dwelling was at the back of the cave.
We had a great time teaching the people and lots of fun exploring with the Beechers.
